two innings. St. Charles North, the top seed, was trailing 2-0 before rallying back. Senior right-hander Abby Zawadzki and junior outfielder Jordyn McBride each hit home runs to tie the game. Kouba's decisive homer came in the bottom of the seventh inning, following a single by junior shortstop Ella Heimbuch, who advanced to third base on a throwing error and a stolen base. The victory avenged a previous postseason loss to the Storm and advanced St. Charles North to the Class 4A Bartlett Sectional semifinals.
