What's Happening?
Watermark Group, a maritime consultancy, has secured over 10,400 square feet of office space at Lakeside North Harbour in Portsmouth. The new site will house a maritime training simulator center, allowing
tug operators to train alongside cargo ship, cruise ship bridge, and engine room teams. This facility enables realistic operational scenario training across multiple disciplines. Alex Downes, director of Watermark Group, expressed satisfaction with the acquisition, highlighting the facility's value for crews and operators. The simulator center is expected to enhance training capabilities and support the maritime industry regionally and beyond.
Why It's Important?
The establishment of a maritime training simulator center by Watermark Group is significant for the maritime industry, particularly in Portsmouth, a key UK maritime city. The facility provides a realistic training environment, crucial for preparing crews for complex scenarios that are challenging to replicate at sea. This development supports the industry's need for skilled operators and enhances safety and efficiency in maritime operations. By investing in such infrastructure, Watermark Group strengthens its position in the industry and contributes to the region's maritime capabilities.
