A penguin named Spneb, believed to be the oldest Humboldt penguin in the world, celebrated her 38th birthday at Paradise Park Wildlife Sanctuary in Cornwall, UK. The sanctuary marked the occasion with
a special ice cake topped with her favorite fish treats, including Cornish sardines and sprats. Spneb, named after the medication that saved her life from a fungal infection in 2007, remains active and inquisitive despite her age. Her keeper, Becky Waite, noted that Spneb enjoys a healthy appetite and continues to engage with her environment, often supervising younger penguins in the colony.
