What's Happening?
On May 15, the Academy of Country Music's philanthropic arm, Lifting Lives, celebrated its 20th anniversary with a concert titled 'Country on the Green' at TopGolf in Las Vegas. Headlined by Riley Green, the event featured performances by Avery Anna,
Lauren Alaina, Rodney Atkins, and Randy Houser. Lifting Lives, since its inception in 2006, has donated over $12 million to more than 150 causes, providing emergency relief to those in the country music industry, including during the COVID-19 pandemic. The concert, held two nights before the ACM Awards, showcased a mix of hits and singalongs, with Green performing a nine-song set. The event also highlighted Lifting Lives' support for a music camp for individuals with Williams Syndrome.
Why It's Important?
The concert underscores the significant role of philanthropy within the country music community, particularly through the efforts of Lifting Lives. By providing financial support and emergency relief, the organization helps sustain the careers of those in the industry, ensuring that artists and professionals can continue their work in Nashville and beyond. The event also highlights the broader impact of music-related philanthropy, as it supports not only industry professionals but also individuals with special needs through initiatives like the music camp for those with Williams Syndrome. This celebration of giving back reinforces the community-oriented spirit of country music and its commitment to making a positive difference.
What's Next?
Following the concert, the 61st ACM Awards are set to stream live from Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 17. The awards will continue to spotlight the achievements of country music artists and the ongoing philanthropic efforts within the industry. As Lifting Lives marks its 20th anniversary, it is likely to continue expanding its reach and impact, potentially introducing new initiatives to support the country music community. The success of the concert may also inspire similar events in the future, further integrating philanthropy into the fabric of the music industry.
