Custom Legal Marketing (CLM) conducted a comprehensive study to assess the influence of AI-generated content on the Google rankings of law firm websites. The study analyzed the top five organic Google results for 28 legal keywords across 24 major U.S.
cities, using the CLM Sequoia platform. The findings revealed that there is no statistically significant correlation between the percentage of AI content and the ranking position of law firm pages. The study covered 2,435 law firm ranking appearances and found that AI content is prevalent, with 54.7% of pages having 5% or less AI content, while 21.4% had 70% or more. Personal injury law pages showed the highest AI content, whereas criminal defense pages had the least. The study suggests that a blended approach, combining AI with human editing, yields better readability and ranking results.
