What's Happening?
Brand USA is launching its travel trade Ambassador Program globally for the first time, aiming to recruit 250 advisors across key international markets by July 4, 2026. This expansion is part of the America250 celebration, marking the US bicentennial-plus
anniversary. The program builds on a successful pilot in Australia and New Zealand in 2025, which involved 12 travel advisors. The initiative focuses on enhancing US destination knowledge, peer mentorship, and knowledge-sharing within the travel trade. Applications for the Australia and New Zealand cohort are now open, with advisors encouraged to apply through Brand USA’s Global Ambassador Application site. Selected ambassadors will participate in industry events, VIP networking, social media masterclasses, themed webinars, and sessions with Brand USA representatives. A key feature of the program is an educational famil across multiple US states, and participants will also engage in ambassador-led training and mentoring within their local trade communities.
Why It's Important?
The global expansion of Brand USA's Ambassador Program is significant as it aims to strengthen international visitation to the United States by leveraging the influence of travel advisors. According to Malcolm Smith, SVP Global Markets and chief trade and product development officer at Brand USA, travel advisors play a crucial role in driving international tourism, with their impact extending beyond individual bookings. By investing in these advisors, Brand USA seeks to enhance the visibility and appeal of US destinations, potentially boosting tourism revenue and fostering cultural exchange. The program's peer-to-peer model encourages advisors to share firsthand experiences, which can lead to more authentic and compelling travel recommendations, ultimately benefiting the US tourism industry.
What's Next?
As the program rolls out globally, Brand USA will continue to recruit advisors and facilitate their participation in various educational and networking activities. The initiative is expected to foster stronger connections between international travel advisors and US destinations, potentially leading to increased tourism. Brand USA may also monitor the program's impact on international visitation and adjust strategies to maximize its effectiveness. The success of this global expansion could inspire similar initiatives in other sectors, further promoting US interests abroad.
