Ports of Indiana has inaugurated its first international trade office in Ireland, aiming to enhance cargo shipments and establish a direct container service between Europe and Indiana. The office, led by maritime expert Brian Dooley, is located in Cork
and Kildare. This move follows a significant increase in trade between Ireland and Indiana, with Ireland exporting $32.4 billion worth of goods to the state in 2024. The new office is part of a strategic initiative to expand Indiana's maritime trade capabilities, including the development of a container terminal at Burns Harbor on Lake Michigan. This terminal will facilitate direct ocean container services to the Chicago metro area, the largest U.S. container market.
