Taylen Kinney, an incoming freshman point guard for the Kansas Jayhawks, has been selected as one of the 12 members of the 2026 USA Basketball Men’s U18 National Team. The selection was made by the USA Basketball Men’s Junior National Team Committee after
a rigorous training camp held at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Kinney, a 6-foot-2 guard from Kentucky, was among 32 players vying for a spot on the team. He is expected to start at point guard for the Jayhawks in the upcoming season and was previously named a 2026 McDonald's All-American. Kinney played for RWE in the Overtime Elite program in Atlanta, where he averaged 18.8 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.8 rebounds per game. The USA team, which includes players from the 2026 and 2027 graduating classes, will compete in the FIBA U18 Men’s AmeriCup in Leon, Mexico, from June 1-7.
