Oyelowo, Rachel Brosnahan, and Cynthia Erivo, will be directed by Oyelowo. The project is a cinematic adaptation of Broccoli's 2016 theater production of Shakespeare's 'Othello,' which was originally set in Venice but will be transposed to a U.S. barracks in Iraq. The film is being produced by EON Productions in partnership with Yoruba Saxon and Qatar's Katara Studios, which is co-financing the feature. The production will benefit from Qatar's recently announced Qatar Screen Production Incentive (QSPI). The announcement was made during the Industry Days in Qatar, hosted by the Film Committee at Media City Qatar in partnership with the Doha Film Institute.
