What's Happening?
Tivan, an Australian diversified critical minerals company, has formalized a community development initiative with the Central Land Council (CLC) to provide up to $1 million in funding over four years. This initiative aims to support Traditional Owners
and Native Title Holders in Central Australia. The funding will be managed by the CLC's Community Development Program to ensure transparency and community benefit. The grant will be disbursed in stages, starting with an initial $250,000, followed by three additional funding stages of up to $250,000 each over the next three years. Tivan's Executive Chairman, Grant Wilson, emphasized the company's commitment to genuine inclusion of Traditional Owners and Native Title Holders in project development.
Why It's Important?
This initiative represents a significant shift in how resource companies engage with Indigenous communities in Australia. By prioritizing community development and transparent funding management, Tivan sets a precedent for more inclusive and sustainable resource development practices. The funding will support some of the most remote communities in Australia, potentially improving living conditions and fostering economic opportunities. This approach could influence other companies in the sector to adopt similar practices, promoting long-term partnerships and trust with Indigenous communities.
