Telkom Indonesia's international arm, Telin, has launched the Puk-Puk 1 Submarine Cable System, establishing a direct subsea link between Indonesia's Papua province and Papua New Guinea. This new cable connects a landing station in Jayapura, operated
by Telkom Group, to a station in Vanimo, managed by PNG DataCo. The Puk-Puk 1 system provides Jayapura with its second direct subsea link, complementing the existing Kumul Domestic Submarine Cable System. The new route enhances connectivity by linking Jayapura to Vanimo, Madang, and Port Moresby, and extends to Manado in North Sulawesi and the United States via the SEA-US cable system. Telkom Indonesia's president director, Dian Siswarini, emphasized that this initiative aims to boost digital economic growth and expand digital access in Eastern Indonesia.
