What's Happening?
Filinvest Land Inc. (FLI) has secured a significant milestone with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) officially registering the Filinvest Innovation Park-Ciudad de Calamba (FIPC) as an industrial
ecozone. This registration, formalized at the PEZA head office, was signed by PEZA Director General Tereso Panga and FLI Business Unit Head for Industrial and Logistics Francis Ceballos. The designation follows Presidential Proclamation No. 1113 by Ferdinand Marcos Jr., declaring the 25-hectare site in Calamba as a special economic zone. This move enhances FLI's position as a leading industrial developer in the Philippines, offering fiscal and non-fiscal incentives to qualified locators, such as income tax holidays and duty-free importation of capital equipment.
Why It's Important?
The registration of FIPC as a PEZA-certified ecozone is a strategic development for the Philippines' industrial sector. It positions the park as a prime location for multinational and export-oriented companies seeking to establish a presence in Southeast Asia. The incentives provided by PEZA, including tax benefits and streamlined import-export procedures, are likely to attract high-value industries to the region, boosting local economic development. This move aligns with FLI's strategy to diversify its real estate portfolio and supports the country's broader ecozone development program, potentially leading to increased foreign investment and job creation in the area.
What's Next?
With the PEZA certification in place, FIPC is expected to attract a range of strategic industries, enhancing its role as a key player in the Philippines' industrial landscape. The park's integration within the larger Ciudad de Calamba township and its connectivity to major transport routes make it an attractive option for manufacturers and logistics operators. As global companies continue to diversify their production bases across Asia, FIPC's strategic location and infrastructure are likely to draw significant interest from businesses looking for resilient, long-term operational bases.
