What's Happening?
Canada Nickel Company Inc. has awarded Ausenco Engineering Canada ULC a contract to commence detailed engineering for the Process Plant and supporting infrastructure at the Crawford Nickel Sulphide Project.
This move follows significant endorsements from the federal government and Ontario's 'One Project, One Process' framework. Ausenco, a global engineering and consulting firm, has been involved with the project since its Preliminary Economic Assessment in 2020. The company aims to begin construction by the end of the year, leveraging Ausenco's extensive experience in large-scale sulphide processing projects.
Why It's Important?
The appointment of Ausenco as the lead engineering consultant marks a significant step forward in the development of the Crawford Nickel Sulphide Project. This project is crucial for Canada Nickel as it aims to supply nickel for the growing electric vehicle and stainless-steel markets. The collaboration with Ausenco is expected to ensure a capital-efficient design and successful execution, potentially positioning Canada Nickel as a key player in the nickel industry. The project also aligns with broader efforts to develop sustainable mining practices and reduce carbon emissions.
