Indiana University football has announced the acquisition of Preston Zachman, a former safety from the University of Wisconsin, as the first member of its 2026 transfer portal class. Zachman, who has one
season of eligibility remaining, played 34 games for the Badgers, amassing 130 tackles, four tackles for loss, and seven interceptions over his career. Initially a three-star recruit in 2020, Zachman redshirted his first year and did not play in 2021. He began to make an impact in 2022, playing in six games before an injury cut his season short. By 2023, Zachman had become a key player, participating in all 13 games and making five starts. His performance included 49 tackles and two interceptions, one of which was a game-winning play against Nebraska. In 2024, he started all 12 games, achieving a career-high 58 tackles. However, his 2025 season was curtailed by a season-ending injury after just three games.
