What's Happening?
A trio of producers, Alvaro Gutierrez, Jason Gurvitz, and Nicolas Troya, have announced the launch of WildHouse, a new label dedicated to Colombian co-productions aimed at the U.S. and international markets. The initiative will focus on genre projects
with budgets ranging from $3 to $5 million. This venture builds on the producers' previous collaborations on films like 'Dominique' and 'Diablo.' WildHouse has secured financial backing from Colombia-based Liontrust Investment Group, which supports film projects through tax benefits regulated by the Ministry of Culture. The slate includes projects such as 'Sanctuary,' 'State of Nature,' 'Lorenzo,' and 'SevenBells,' with production scheduled for 2026 and 2027.
Why It's Important?
The establishment of WildHouse represents a significant step in promoting Colombian cinema on the global stage. By focusing on co-productions with the U.S., the initiative aims to enhance the visibility and competitiveness of Colombian films internationally. This move is expected to attract more investment and talent to Colombia's film industry, which is currently experiencing dynamic growth. The collaboration between Colombian and U.S. producers could lead to a richer exchange of creative ideas and resources, potentially elevating the quality and appeal of the films produced. For the U.S. market, this partnership offers access to unique stories and perspectives from Colombia, enriching the diversity of content available to audiences.
