A recent analysis by Consumer Reports and the Strategic Resource Group has revealed that six grocery retailers offer lower national average prices than Walmart, with three of these retailers operating in Florida. The study compared the cost of commonly
purchased items across 35 nationwide and regional retailers in six major metro areas. The findings indicate that Costco Wholesale, BJ's Wholesale Club, and Lidl are among the stores with lower prices than Walmart. However, popular Florida chain Publix was found to be 20.3% more expensive than Walmart. The report also highlighted that other chains like Save A Lot, Piggly Wiggly, and Trader Joe's have higher average prices compared to Walmart. The data was collected in late summer 2025 and considered store sales and loyalty card discounts, excluding manufacturer coupons or app-based savings.
