What's Happening?
GuRu Wireless has developed a pioneering wireless energy transfer technology that enables drones to achieve persistent flight through in-flight battery recharging. This technology utilizes digital beamforming and RF Lensing® to deliver focused wireless power
from a ground-based transmitter to a compact onboard receiver. The system supports multiple drones simultaneously and has demonstrated over 96 hours of continuous flight with wireless recharging at distances up to 200 feet. This innovation is designed for a range of applications, including defense, security, and commercial sectors, enhancing mission persistence and operational flexibility.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of wireless power beaming technology represents a significant advancement in drone operations, addressing one of the major limitations of battery life. This technology can transform various industries by enabling longer and more efficient drone missions, reducing the need for frequent battery swaps or tethered systems. It holds particular promise for defense and security operations, where continuous surveillance and reduced manpower are critical. Additionally, it opens new possibilities for civilian applications such as utilities inspection and cargo transport, potentially leading to cost savings and increased operational efficiency.
