L3Harris Technologies has been awarded a $400 million contract to supply components for the U.S. Missile Defense Agency's Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system. The contract involves the production of solid rocket boost motors and Liquid Divert and Attitude Control Systems (LDACS) for THAAD interceptors. These components are crucial for the system's ability to intercept missiles both inside and outside Earth's atmosphere. The contract follows a new agreement between Lockheed Martin and the U.S. Department of Defense to increase THAAD interceptor production from 96 to 400 units annually, enhancing the U.S. missile defense network.
