What's Happening?
Michigan State University recently held its annual Pro Day, where departing football players showcased their skills in front of NFL scouts. Among the standout performers were defensive tackle Ru'Quan Buckley and safety Devynn Cromwell. Buckley impressed
with 32 bench press reps, a performance that would have ranked second at the NFL Combine. Cromwell demonstrated his athleticism with a broad jump of 11 feet, 3 inches, and a vertical jump of 40.5 inches, both of which would have placed him among the top performers at the Combine. These performances have potentially increased their visibility to NFL teams as they prepare for the upcoming draft.
Why It's Important?
Pro Day events are crucial for college athletes aiming to enter the NFL, as they provide a platform to demonstrate physical capabilities and improve draft stock. For players like Buckley and Cromwell, strong performances can lead to increased interest from NFL teams, potentially resulting in higher draft selections and better career opportunities. This is particularly significant for players from programs like Michigan State, which may not receive as much national attention as larger programs. Their success at Pro Day could influence team strategies and selections in the upcoming NFL Draft.
