REI Co-op has released a report detailing its sustainability efforts for 2025, focusing on local clean energy projects and the use of recycled materials. The outdoor gear retailer has partnered with US
Solar to develop a 2.5 megawatt community solar project in Woodbury, Minnesota, which will provide renewable energy to nearly 500 low- to moderate-income households. Additionally, REI has entered a Virtual Power Purchase Agreement with Carhartt and other partners to add 18.5 megawatts of solar energy to the Texas grid. The company is also committed to using regenerated polyester made from recycled textile waste, signing a three-year agreement with Ambercycle to purchase 200 tons annually. Furthermore, REI is expanding its educational initiatives through a partnership with Sol Systems, supporting environmental education at Florida Atlantic University’s Pine Jog Center.
