What's Happening?
Kayci Hines has joined McGuireWoods LLP as counsel in its restructuring and insolvency practice group in New York. Previously, Hines served as a bankruptcy counsel at the U.S. Department of Justice's Environment and Natural Resources Division. During her tenure at the DOJ, she was involved in overseeing federal agency representation in major Chapter 11 environmental and energy insolvencies, including the largest offshore oil and gas bankruptcies in U.S. history. Her expertise extends to advising on regulatory issues and representing unsecured creditor committees and large individual creditors in Chapter 11 and 15 bankruptcies.
Why It's Important?
Hines' move to McGuireWoods is significant as it brings her extensive experience in handling complex bankruptcy cases
to the private sector. Her background in environmental and energy-related insolvencies will enhance the firm's capabilities in managing high-stakes restructuring cases. This transition reflects a broader trend of experienced government attorneys moving to private practice, where they can leverage their regulatory knowledge and connections. Hines' expertise is expected to benefit McGuireWoods' clients, particularly those navigating the intricate landscape of environmental and energy bankruptcies.
