Marriott International, in collaboration with Another Star, is set to open a new citizenM hotel in Washington, D.C.'s historic Georgetown district in June 2026. This will be the third citizenM property in the capital, designed by Concrete Amsterdam, featuring
230 rooms. The hotel will integrate citizenM's bold, design-forward approach, offering a dynamic destination for travelers and locals alike. As part of the Marriott Bonvoy program, guests can earn and redeem points during their stays. The hotel will also offer access to citizenM's membership program, mycitizenM+, which includes Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status. Located near Georgetown's waterfront and shopping areas, the hotel aims to provide a vibrant hospitality experience with modern amenities, including a 24/7 gym, canteenM, and a newly-commissioned mural by local artist J.D. Deardourff.
Why It's Important?
The opening of citizenM in Georgetown signifies a strategic expansion of Marriott International's portfolio, enhancing its presence in a key U.S. market. This development is crucial for Marriott as it strengthens its competitive edge in the hospitality industry by offering unique, design-centric accommodations that appeal to modern travelers. The integration with the Marriott Bonvoy program is likely to attract loyalty members, boosting occupancy rates and customer retention. Additionally, the hotel's location in a historic and vibrant district like Georgetown positions it as an attractive option for both leisure and business travelers, potentially increasing tourism and local economic activity.
What's Next?
As the opening date approaches, Marriott and Another Star will likely focus on marketing strategies to promote the new property, highlighting its unique design and amenities. The hotel is expected to attract a diverse clientele, including tourists, business travelers, and visitors to Georgetown University. The success of this property could influence future expansions of the citizenM brand within the U.S., particularly in other major cities. Stakeholders will be monitoring the hotel's performance closely to assess its impact on Marriott's overall market strategy and its contribution to the company's growth objectives.
