The Huntington Beach High School girls' lacrosse team achieved a significant milestone by winning their first Sunset League title. The team rallied from a five-goal deficit at halftime to defeat Edison High School 13-12. This victory was particularly
poignant as the team dedicated their season to their late teammate, Kelly Reid, who passed away in a plane crash in January 2025. The team, led by coach Brian Eisenberg, has faced multiple personal losses over the years, including the recent death of senior midfielder Abbi Kerwin's father. The players, including senior attacker Emily Mehr and senior Elle Tran, played pivotal roles in the comeback, with Mehr scoring a season-high four goals. The team’s resilience and dedication were evident as they overcame previous deficits in games against Laguna Beach and Corona del Mar.
