What's Happening?
A new foundation has been established in honor of Boaz Flemister, a young dancer who tragically lost his life in a car crash on the Bishop Ford Freeway earlier this year. Angela Hongo, Flemister's mother, initiated the foundation to support dance communities
in Chicago, aiming to preserve her son's legacy and passion for dance. This initiative seeks to provide resources and opportunities for young dancers, fostering talent and community engagement in the arts.
Why It's Important?
The creation of this foundation serves as a poignant reminder of the impact individuals can have on their communities, even after their passing. By supporting dance communities, the foundation not only honors Flemister's memory but also contributes to the cultural and artistic development of Chicago. This initiative highlights the role of community-driven efforts in nurturing the arts and providing platforms for young talent to thrive. It also underscores the importance of arts in healing and bringing communities together in the face of tragedy.
