What's Happening?
Fortenova Group, a Croatian investment company, has accepted a buyout offer from Bosqar Invest for local meat producer Pik Vrbovec. The acquisition is part of Fortenova's strategy to exit agriculture and
focus on non-primary production activities. Pik Vrbovec, Croatia's largest meat producer, operates a vertically integrated model and exports to around 20 countries. The deal will be financed through a secondary public offering, and once completed, Bosqar will take over Pik Vrbovec through its Future Food division, which includes other agri-food businesses.
Why It's Important?
The acquisition of Pik Vrbovec by Bosqar Invest represents a strategic shift for Fortenova Group, as it continues to divest its agricultural assets. This move aligns with Fortenova's focus on non-primary production activities, potentially impacting the regional agri-food industry. The deal highlights the importance of strategic acquisitions in expanding market presence and enhancing supply chain resilience. For Bosqar, the acquisition strengthens its position in the agri-food and meat-processing industry, contributing to food security and supply resilience in Croatia and the region.
