What's Happening?
Slowrole, led by Fred Muench, has released a new self-titled EP available on all streaming platforms. This marks Muench's solo debut, following his tenure as the lead singer of the NYHC band Bad Trip. The EP was conceived during the COVID-19 pandemic
in Muench's basement and later recorded in a studio with the help of musician and producer Paul Brill. The artwork for the EP was created by veteran hardcore artist Jordin Isip. The band describes the EP as a reflection on how untruths permeate life, sometimes embraced for comfort or suppressed in hope of improvement. It also emphasizes the importance of seeking disruption while maintaining joy.
Why It's Important?
The release of Slowrole's EP is significant as it marks Fred Muench's return to music after a hiatus, showcasing his ability to adapt and create during challenging times. The themes explored in the EP resonate with listeners who have experienced the widespread impact of misinformation and the search for personal joy amidst adversity. This release could influence the music industry by highlighting the potential for artists to produce meaningful work independently, even during global crises. It also underscores the ongoing relevance of hardcore music and its ability to address contemporary issues.
