What's Happening?
The CW Network has announced a sublicense agreement with ESPN to continue broadcasting ACC football and basketball games through the 2030-31 season. This deal includes 14 regular-season football games, 30 men's basketball games, and 10 women's basketball games each
season. The CW first began airing ACC games in 2023, and this extension solidifies its position as a key broadcaster for live sports. Raycom Sports will continue to produce the games for The CW. The agreement also includes making CW Sports programming available on the ESPN Unlimited app, expanding the reach of ACC sports.
Why It's Important?
This agreement enhances The CW's portfolio as a sports broadcaster, providing national distribution for ACC games that might otherwise have limited exposure. It reflects the growing importance of sports content in network programming and the strategic partnerships that enable broader audience reach. For the ACC, this deal ensures continued visibility and accessibility for its sports programs, potentially increasing fan engagement and support. The collaboration with ESPN and The CW highlights the evolving landscape of sports broadcasting, where traditional networks and digital platforms converge.
