Premier Foods, a St Albans-based food manufacturer known for brands like Batchelors, Bisto, OXO, and Mr Kipling, has made significant strides in its sustainability efforts. The company reported a 14% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 market-based emissions over
the past year, alongside a 16% increase in sales of products meeting high nutritional standards. As part of its Enriching Life Plan, Premier Foods invested £2.1 million in a new solar farm at its Carlton Bakery in South Yorkshire. This solar farm, comprising 3,500 panels, is expected to supply nearly three-quarters of the bakery's electricity needs during peak production periods, cutting carbon emissions by approximately 468 tonnes annually. Additionally, Premier Foods completed steam boiler upgrades at its Worksop site, enhancing energy efficiency and reducing emissions by 686 tonnes per year.
