What's Happening?
Rheinmetall Kraken GmbH has started the series production of the K3 Scout unmanned surface vehicle (USV) at its Blohm+Voss site in Hamburg, Germany. The production is initially set for around 200 units per year, with the potential to increase to 1,000
units annually based on demand. The K3 Scout is designed as a low-cost, low-signature USV with modular payload capabilities, suitable for both civilian and military applications. The joint venture between German shipyard Naval Vessels Lürssen and British company Kraken Technology Group was announced in August 2025, with Rheinmetall acquiring NVL in March 2026.
