Geely Auto has commenced the production of its EX2 compact battery electric vehicle (BEV) in Indonesia, marking a significant step in the Chinese automaker's expansion into Southeast Asia. The EX2 is being assembled by Handal Indonesia Motor, a local contract assembler, which also produces the EX5 BEV and the Starray, a model available as both a BEV and a plug-in hybrid. The facility has the capacity to assemble 60 vehicles per day, supporting Geely's growth ambitions in the region. Geely Auto Indonesia CEO, Wu Chuxing, highlighted that the EX2 has a local content of 46%, emphasizing the company's commitment to integrating global standards with local relevance. Since opening orders in November, Geely has received over 1,000 pre-bookings for
the EX2, which is priced starting at IDR 233 million (approximately US$ 13,730).
