What's Happening?
EMP Metals Corp has received approval for up to $3.2 million in funding from Next Generation Manufacturing Canada (NGen) for Project Aurora. This initiative, in collaboration with Saltworks Technologies Inc., aims to demonstrate an integrated, continuous-flow
lithium refining system. The project is designed to simplify lithium production, reduce costs, and mitigate risks associated with scaling up through system-level integration. Saltworks will design, build, and operate a modular demonstration plant integrated with EMP Metals' lithium well and brine handling infrastructure in Saskatchewan. The plant will convert raw brine into a refined, lithium-rich solution, which will then be processed into battery-grade chemicals. This project is part of Canada's effort to build resilient domestic supply chains for critical minerals.
