What's Happening?
SatLab Geosolutions has unveiled its Spin Sound Velocity Inversion technology, which automates the calculation of sound velocity profiles in real-time. This technology uses cross-calibration from overlapping
survey lines to enable fully automated corrections without manual adjustments. It is designed to handle complex changes over time and across survey areas, aligning mismatched multi-beam bathymetry data to meet International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) standards. The technology has been proven effective in over 60 survey regions worldwide, supporting depths from 0.2 meters to 180 meters, and aims to improve data reliability while reducing operational costs.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of SatLab's Spin Sound Velocity Inversion technology is significant for the geospatial and hydrographic survey industries. By automating sound velocity corrections, the technology enhances data accuracy and reliability, which is crucial for various applications such as marine navigation, environmental monitoring, and resource exploration. The ability to reduce operational costs while maintaining high standards of data quality can provide competitive advantages to companies in these sectors. Additionally, the technology's proven effectiveness across multiple regions suggests its potential for widespread adoption, potentially transforming industry practices and standards.
