What's Happening?
Katie Fiso, a standout guard for the Oregon Ducks, has been invited to participate in the Team USA 3x3 development camp in Phoenix, Arizona. The camp, scheduled from May 6 to 8, precedes the 2026 USA Basketball 3X Women’s Showcase. Fiso, who has previously
won a gold medal at the 2023 FIBA 3x3 U-18 World Cup, is recognized for her scoring ability, having led Oregon with 15.5 points per game in the 2025-26 season. Her performance earned her a spot on the All-Big Ten Conference Second Team. The Ducks' 2026-27 roster is nearly complete, featuring several top recruits, including Kennedy Holman and Brooklynn Haywood.
Why It's Important?
Fiso's invitation to the Team USA camp underscores her growing influence in college basketball and highlights Oregon's strong recruiting efforts. The Ducks' 2026 recruiting class is ranked No. 8 nationally and No. 1 in the Big Ten, reflecting the program's competitive edge. Fiso's development at the camp could enhance her leadership skills and on-court decision-making, crucial for Oregon's aspirations in the upcoming season. Her participation also boosts the Ducks' visibility on a national stage, potentially attracting more top-tier talent to the program.
What's Next?
Following the camp, Fiso will aim to refine her skills and reduce turnovers, a noted area for improvement. Oregon's coach, Kelly Graves, will continue to build the team's depth, particularly in the post positions, to support Fiso and other key players. The Ducks are poised to compete strongly in the Big Ten and aim for a deep run in the NCAA tournament. Fiso's performance at the camp could also influence her future prospects, including potential professional opportunities.
