What's Happening?
The Levitt AMP Sheboygan Music Series is set to host the 'Get the Gig' competition on May 14, where three bands will vie for the opportunity to open the summer music series. The event will take place at Paradigm Coffee & Music in Sheboygan and is open to all
ages. The competing bands include Dance Bullies, a country western band; Plutoniates, an alternative rock group with 1990s influences; and Social Cig, a Midwest indie skate rock band known for its energetic performances. Attendees will have the chance to vote for their favorite band, and the event will coincide with Paradigm's Vegan Burger Night, offering a menu of vegan options and desserts. The Levitt AMP Sheboygan Music Series is supported by the Levitt Family Foundation and presented by the John Michael Kohler Arts Center.
Why It's Important?
The 'Get the Gig' competition is significant as it engages the local community in the arts and provides a platform for emerging bands to gain exposure. By allowing residents to vote for the opening act, the event fosters community involvement and supports local talent. The Levitt AMP Sheboygan Music Series, backed by the Levitt Family Foundation, aims to activate underused outdoor spaces through music, enhancing cultural vibrancy in the area. This initiative not only promotes local artists but also contributes to the cultural and economic vitality of Sheboygan by attracting visitors and encouraging community participation.
What's Next?
Following the competition, the winning band will perform as the opening act for the Levitt AMP Sheboygan Music Series, which will take place at City Green. The series is expected to draw significant local and regional attention, providing further opportunities for community engagement and cultural enrichment. The event organizers, including the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, will continue to promote the series and encourage public participation throughout the summer.
