What's Happening?
The Celtic FC Foundation successfully hosted its eleventh annual Golf Day at Renfrew Golf Club, raising approximately £15,000. The funds will primarily benefit the Paradise Pit Stop project, which provides meals and support to individuals and families
in need. The event was sponsored by GMG Contractors Ltd and featured participation from Celtic legends such as Tom Boyd, Stephen McManus, Aiden McGeady, and Derek Riordan. The day included a golf tournament, a lunch, and a Q&A session with former Celtic players. The event concluded with an auction and prize draw, offering various prizes to participants.
Why It's Important?
The funds raised from the Golf Day will support the Paradise Pit Stop project, which addresses food insecurity and social isolation by providing meals and a safe environment for those in need. This initiative is crucial in the context of the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, as it expands its reach to offer support four days a week. The project also connects participants to broader support networks, addressing issues such as mental health and housing. The success of the event highlights the community's commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and the role of sports organizations in social responsibility.
