What's Happening?
The Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles basketball team is organizing the 2026 Rick Stein Basketball Camps at the University of Southern Indiana. The camps are scheduled for June, with the elite camp taking place on June 14 and team camps on June 22-23.
The elite camp is designed for girls in grades 9-12, focusing on individual skills, drill work, and team competitions. It will be led by the USI coaching staff and current Screaming Eagles players. The team camp, open to junior varsity and varsity girls' basketball teams, offers five games per team or individual games, with realistic game conditions including stoppages for dead balls, fouls, and free throws.
Why It's Important?
These camps provide a significant opportunity for young female athletes to enhance their basketball skills and gain exposure to college-level training. By participating, players can improve their individual and team performance, potentially increasing their chances of pursuing basketball at higher levels. The involvement of USI coaching staff and players offers participants valuable insights and mentorship, fostering growth in the sport. Additionally, these camps contribute to the local community by promoting sports and encouraging youth engagement in athletics.
What's Next?
Registration for the camps is currently open, with day-of registration available for both the elite and team camps. Participants and teams are encouraged to register early to secure their spots. The camps are expected to attract a significant number of young athletes, providing them with a platform to showcase their talents and learn from experienced coaches. The success of these camps could lead to more frequent and expanded basketball training opportunities at USI in the future.
