What's Happening?
Transnational Company Kazchrome Joint Stock Company, a subsidiary of Eurasian Resources Group, has been awarded an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for its high-carbon ferrochrome. This certification
confirms that Kazchrome's products meet international environmental standards, providing transparency regarding their environmental impact. The evaluation was initiated by Kazchrome and conducted by SGS, a leading provider of inspection and certification services. The assessment considered various environmental factors, including mining, transportation, and processing of raw materials, as well as water and energy consumption. Kazchrome's advanced technologies enable sustainable use of natural resources, reducing reliance on primary materials and minimizing waste. Sergey Prokopyev, Kazchrome's general director, emphasized the company's commitment to sustainability and its global competitiveness.
Why It's Important?
The certification strengthens Kazchrome's position in global markets by demonstrating its commitment to environmental standards. This is significant for the ferroalloy industry, which plays a crucial role in stainless steel production. By reducing its environmental footprint, Kazchrome not only enhances its market appeal but also contributes to sustainable development in its host regions. This move aligns with broader industry trends towards sustainability and environmental responsibility, potentially influencing other companies to adopt similar practices. The certification may also impact regulatory policies and consumer preferences, as stakeholders increasingly prioritize environmental considerations.
