What's Happening?
Team USA women's handball, along with Futures Handball, conducted developmental camps in the Quad Cities. The initiative aimed to promote the sport and engage more people in handball activities. Former Team USA Olympian Lisa Eagen and current head coach
Sarah Gascon were involved in the event, sharing their expertise and passion for the sport with participants. The camps provided an opportunity for attendees to learn about handball and improve their skills.
Why It's Important?
The developmental camps are significant as they contribute to the growth and popularity of handball in the United States. By engaging with local communities, Team USA is fostering interest in a sport that is not widely recognized in the country. This initiative could lead to increased participation at the grassroots level, potentially enhancing the talent pool for future national teams. It also highlights the role of sports in community building and youth development.
