What's Happening?
The Interlochen Arts Academy recently concluded its Imagine US: Celebrating America at 250 tour, which featured performances in Interlochen, Detroit, Philadelphia, and Boston. The tour included the premiere of a new cello concerto composed by Wynton Marsalis,
with Yo-Yo Ma as the soloist. Students also performed Symphony No. 4 by Charles Ives and RE|Member by Reena Esmail. In each city, members of the Arts Academy Orchestra collaborated with professional musicians from local orchestras, such as the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. The tour was broadcasted by Classical IPR in partnership with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and WRCJ. Ryan Crawford, a sophomore bassoonist at Interlochen, shared his experiences, highlighting the grandeur of the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia and the emotional finale in Boston.
