BAE Systems Hägglunds is investing $450 million to expand its production capacity at its site in Örnsköldsvik, northern Sweden. This expansion is in anticipation of a potential order for hundreds of CV90
infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) under the Swedish-led CV90 MkIV Nordic initiative. The initiative involves Sweden, Finland, Norway, Lithuania, Estonia, and the Netherlands, which signed a technical agreement in November 2025. This agreement outlines the program-specific principles of cooperation, technical requirements, and an action plan leading up to the main contract signing, expected in mid-2026. Estonia has opted out of the joint procurement, choosing instead to focus on unmanned aerial vehicles and air defense systems. Deliveries of the CV90s to the remaining participants are scheduled to begin in 2028. BAE Systems Hägglunds has already invested $300 million in the site over the past two years and plans to invest an additional $150 million. The expansion includes building three new halls, increasing the workforce from 750 to 1,200, and enhancing production capabilities.
