What's Happening?
By Light Professional IT Services has been awarded a five-year, $298.1 million contract by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) to continue supporting the cloud-based internet isolation infrastructure for the Department of Defense. This initiative,
known as CBII, involves rendering browser content in a secure cloud environment to protect users from malicious code. By Light will provide a managed service for Menlo Security's Cloud Browser product, which serves 3.2 million users across the Defense Department. The contract extends beyond software licenses, encompassing operation, integration, maintenance, and support within DISA's security framework.
Why It's Important?
This contract underscores the importance of cybersecurity in protecting government networks from potential threats. By isolating browser activity in the cloud, DISA aims to enhance security for its users, reducing the risk of cyberattacks. The contract also highlights the growing reliance on private companies to provide critical cybersecurity infrastructure for government agencies. For By Light, this deal represents a significant business opportunity and reinforces its position as a key player in the defense IT sector.
What's Next?
By Light will continue to develop and integrate the secure browser solution within DISA's security architecture. As cyber threats evolve, the company may need to adapt its services to address new challenges. The success of this project could lead to further contracts with other government agencies seeking similar cybersecurity solutions. Additionally, the broader defense industry may see increased investment in cloud-based security technologies as agencies prioritize safeguarding their digital assets.
