What's Happening?
American Tungsten has commenced its Phase 1 diamond drill program at the IMA Mine in Idaho. The program aims to validate and extend multiple tungsten vein systems across the past-producing operation, with
a total of approximately 12,100 feet of drilling planned. Priority targets include historically defined zones such as the No. 5 and No. 7 Veins. The drilling is part of the company's strategy to advance the mine toward potential U.S.-based production. CEO Ali Haji emphasized the program as a key step in the mine's commercial restart, with operational milestones expected through the first quarter of 2026.
Why It's Important?
The initiation of drilling at the IMA Mine represents a significant step in American Tungsten's efforts to restart operations at one of the United States' most significant historical tungsten mines. With renewed strategic interest in domestic tungsten supply, this development could enhance the U.S.'s position in the global tungsten market. The program's success could lead to increased domestic production, reducing reliance on foreign sources and supporting national security interests. The project also has the potential to create jobs and stimulate economic activity in the region.
