What's Happening?
Costco has issued a recall for the 32 Degrees Heated Socks following reports of burn injuries from customers. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported 14 incidents, with 13 involving first- or second-degree burns. The socks, sold in various
sizes, were available at Costco stores and online from August 2025 to March 2026. The recall affects approximately 207,806 packs of socks. Consumers are advised to stop using the socks and return them for a full refund. The recall highlights safety concerns associated with heated wearable products, particularly during high-intensity activities.
Why It's Important?
This recall underscores the potential risks associated with battery-powered wearable products, which are increasingly popular for their convenience and comfort. The reported injuries raise questions about the safety standards and testing procedures for such products. For Costco, this recall could impact consumer trust and lead to increased scrutiny of their product safety protocols. It also serves as a reminder for manufacturers to ensure rigorous safety testing, especially for products intended for prolonged or high-intensity use.
