What's Happening?
TX Fiber, an independent fiber broadband provider, has deployed a next-generation 10-gigabit fiber network using Vecima's Entra XGS-PON Solution. This deployment makes TX Fiber one of the first providers in South Texas to offer symmetrical 10 Gbps-capable
service. The new network aims to meet the growing demand for high-speed internet from residential customers, small businesses, and enterprises, supporting applications such as 5G backhaul, telehealth, and remote work. Vecima's solution includes components like the Entra vPON Manager and the Entra EXS1610-XGS Shelf Optical Line Terminal, which enhance service provisioning and network management.
Why It's Important?
The rollout of the XGS-PON network by TX Fiber is a significant step in bridging the digital divide in South Texas, providing high-speed internet access comparable to that in major metropolitan areas. This development is crucial for supporting modern digital applications and services, which are increasingly essential for economic growth and quality of life. The deployment also positions TX Fiber to capitalize on the rising demand for broadband services, potentially boosting its market share and revenue. Furthermore, the use of Vecima's technology ensures scalability and flexibility, allowing TX Fiber to adapt to future technological advancements and customer needs.
What's Next?
TX Fiber plans to expand its XGS-PON network across additional communities in South Texas throughout 2026 and 2027. This expansion will likely involve further investments in infrastructure and technology to enhance service delivery. The company may also explore partnerships and collaborations to accelerate deployment and improve service offerings.
