Company Shop Group has announced a significant achievement in its latest impact report, having redistributed over one billion surplus items since its inception. In the past year alone, the company redistributed 117 million individual units, including
47,000 tonnes of food and drink. This effort has reportedly saved 121,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions and reduced customer shopping bills by £137 million across its Company Shop and Community Shop locations. The group collaborates with over 800 retailers, brands, and manufacturers, and has paid £51 million to partners for surplus goods in the last year, bringing the five-year total to £219 million. Group Managing Director Chris Burns emphasized the company's mission to prevent surplus from becoming waste, highlighting the environmental impact of food waste in the UK.
