CEO Jim Farley highlighted the economic impact of domestic production, noting its role in sustaining local communities and supporting public services.
Why It's Important?
Ford's commitment to US manufacturing is significant for the American economy, as it supports a large number of jobs and contributes to the country's industrial output. By leading in vehicle assembly and exports, Ford not only strengthens its market position but also bolsters the US automotive industry's global competitiveness. The company's focus on domestic production helps maintain a robust supply chain and reduces reliance on imports, which can be crucial in times of global economic uncertainty. Additionally, Ford's investment in US manufacturing aligns with broader national interests in economic growth and job creation.
What's Next?
Ford plans to hire thousands of additional workers across the US to support the launch of new gasoline, hybrid, and electric vehicles, as well as battery and energy storage systems. Preparations are underway at multiple sites, including facilities in Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee. This expansion is part of Ford's strategy to anchor production in the US while investing in next-generation vehicle technologies, aiming to maintain its leadership in domestic manufacturing.
