What's Happening?
Cavotec has launched the PowerMove RoRo NxG, a redesigned mobile cable management system aimed at simplifying shore power connections for RoRo and RoPax vessels. This new platform is part of Cavotec's efforts to support ports in transitioning to cleaner
operations by reducing emissions. The PowerMove RoRo NxG features increased flexibility, a new digital architecture, and operational feasibility improvements, allowing a single operator to manage the system using a remote control. The system is already operational in over 30 ports worldwide, with recent installations in Italy and more scheduled.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of the PowerMove RoRo NxG is a significant step towards reducing the maritime industry's carbon footprint. By facilitating easier connections to onshore electricity, the system helps ports and vessels lower emissions, aligning with global environmental goals. This innovation supports the maritime sector's shift towards sustainable practices, potentially influencing regulatory standards and encouraging further technological advancements. Ports adopting such systems may gain a competitive advantage by attracting environmentally conscious shipping companies.
