Logan Jones, a graduate senior center for the Iowa Hawkeyes football team, has been named the 2025 recipient of the Duke Slater Golden Gavel. This award is given to the Iowa football player who demonstrates

The award, now in its fifth year, was closely contested, with Jones narrowly edging out runner-up Mark Gronowski by a single vote. Other players who received votes included cornerback T.J. Hall, running back Kamari Moulton, and defensive backs Zach Lutmer and Koen Entringer. The award is named after Duke Slater, a former Iowa All-American tackle and a member of both the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame. Slater was also the first African-American elected to the Cook County Superior Court.
