What's Happening?
Sixteen residents of the Imperial Valley have graduated from the Asociación de Emprendedor@s Entrepreneurship Training Program. This program, conducted in partnership with The Becoming Project and supported by Comite Civico del Valle and the Latino Community
Foundation, provides Spanish-speaking residents with the skills to launch and grow small businesses. The eight-week course includes entrepreneurship training and financial literacy instruction, aiming to empower first-time entrepreneurs in an underserved region. The program is designed to run twice a year, addressing the demand for business education among residents near the U.S.-Mexico border.
Why It's Important?
The graduation of these entrepreneurs is a significant step towards economic empowerment in the Imperial Valley, a region with limited access to business education. By equipping residents with the necessary skills to start and manage businesses, the program fosters economic growth and self-sufficiency. This initiative not only supports individual entrepreneurs but also contributes to the broader community by potentially creating jobs and stimulating local economies. The focus on Spanish-language instruction ensures inclusivity and accessibility for residents who may face language barriers in traditional business education settings.
