What's Happening?
Andrada Mining Limited has successfully secured conditional debt financing amounting to N$98 million from two Namibian financial institutions. This funding is aimed at supporting the expansion of the Uis
mine and ongoing drilling activities at the Lithium Ridge project. The financing will be provided through 10-year loan facilities from Bank Windhoek and the Development Bank of Namibia, channeled via Andrada's subsidiary, Uis Tin Mining Company. The package consists of two equal tranches of N$49 million each. This debt funding complements a previous US$11 million equity raise completed in April 2026, which was also intended to support growth projects. The company has also completed an expanded diamond drilling program at Lithium Ridge, exceeding its original target by 18% due to promising geological results.
Why It's Important?
The acquisition of this funding is significant as it reflects growing support from Namibian financial institutions for local mining projects, which could bolster the country's mining sector. The expansion of the Uis mine and the drilling at Lithium Ridge are expected to enhance production capabilities and potentially increase the output of valuable minerals such as lithium, tin, and tantalum. This could position Namibia as a key player in the global minerals market, particularly in the lithium sector, which is crucial for battery production and renewable energy technologies. The successful financing and expansion efforts may also attract further investment and technical collaboration, fostering economic growth and job creation in the region.
What's Next?
Andrada Mining plans to continue processing final core samples from the drilling program, with remaining assay results expected in the coming months. These results will provide further insights into the mineral potential of the Lithium Ridge project. The company is likely to focus on optimizing its ore-sorting circuit and increasing production at the Uis mine. Additionally, the collaboration with SQM, a global leader in lithium production, may lead to further technical and commercial advancements in Andrada's exploration and production activities.
